  • How do I use Callwave or BuzMe with CTC services?

Callwave and BuzMe are services available through the Internet to take messages for you while you are on-line. For a monthly charge you can forward all incoming calls to them. A pop-up window on your computer notifies you of an incoming call. To use their services you will need to setup an account with them and contact your local telephone company to have the Call Forwarding Busy feature added to your telephone line. The Call Forward Busy feature allows you to transfer calls to another phone while your line is busy. Each time you want to use the Internet messaging service you will need to activate the call forwarding feature. You must then disable the feature to receive incoming calls once you are off-line.

CTC does not provide technical support for Internet messaging services. We recommend Voice Mail which is a service that is available through your local telephone company. Voice mail is a reliable, easy to use service that will answer your calls when the line is busy or when you are not at home. You only need to activate voice mail once and it does the rest for you.  For more information on CTC's voice mail services click here.

If you decide to go the Internet messaging route and you have CTC Telcom or Chibardun Telephone Cooperative as your local telephone company, contact us to have the Call Forward Busy feature added to your line.  Once the feature is added to your line, follow these steps every time you want to activate and deactivate the call forward busy.

    Activate Call Forward Busy
    1. Lift telephone receiver
    2. Press *90
    3. Enter the telephone number you want to forward calls to followed by the # sign. After you receive two short tones, your call forward busy is activated.
    4. Hang up receiver

    Deactivate Call Forward Busy

    1. Lift telephone receiver
    2. Press *91
    3. Listen for confirmation tones
    4. Hang up receiver

  • How do I know if I'm on a secure site?

One way is to look at the web address; non-secure sites start with http://  a secure site will read https:// the 's' following the http indicates the site is secure. Or, look for the padlock in the lower left corner of Netscape's window and the lower right corner of Internet Explorer's window. If the padlock is in the locked position, the site is secure. If it's in the unlocked position (Netscape) or if there's no padlock (Internet Explorer) the site is not secure.
